“New browser by Microsoft” recommendations on Edge Add-on store in non-edge Browser
Microsoft has started promoting it’s Edge browser in the add-on store for Chrome and other browsers. After the emails from Google to use chrome, Microsoft has aslo started promoting it’s own browser to users at their add-on store to increase user count.
The add banner which is shown by Microsoft for users browsing to Edge Add-on store displays “The new browser recommend by Microsoft is here“.
Showing ads to use browser
Almost all browsers show an ad to download it for better performance and compatibility with add-ons.
So, if you visit chrome browser store and wish to install a theme or plugin using a non-chromium browser, you will get a pop-up saying “You will need Google Chrome to install most apps, extensions, and theme” along with a download button to download Chrome Browser.
A similar pop-up will be seen when you visit the app store of a non-chromium browser with a chromium one.
Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store Promotes new Edge
The Edge add-ons store prompts a download banner when you visit the store with non-edge browsers like Chrome, Firefox, etc. The message with the prompt is “Get Speed, performance and compatibility by Microsoft is here“.
It has two buttons, one Download now which is of different color obviously to attract clicks and the other one is a plain link text No thanks.
This is what Microsoft is trying to attract new and more users to its new browser, Microsoft Edge. And you can use the Microsoft Edge as a browser as your first choice, if you do a little browsing work.
This is what we always required Microsoft’s IE’s update which is a good and fast option as a primary browser. But I think Microsoft is a bit late with this as Google Chrome has taken all the market.
